Students of the Month!

At the end of the month (April '09), we are proud of the University of Chicago - Charter School, students of the month:

Pre-K "Abigail Thomas"
2nd Grade "Jeremiah Thomas"

Prayfully, little Gideon will follow in their foorsteps

A blessing in the breaking!

First things first, No we didn't do it :) Our son Jeremiah had a little accident on the monkey bars at his school (go ahead, its ok to saw awwwww...) But he is such a trooper! The only thing that made him upset about the whole ordeal is the fact that he couldn't play video games for a little while and he wasn't comfortable with everyone trying to help him out. (As the "big" brother, he's used to helping everyone)

Well, when me and his mom took him to the emergency room, we did an x-ray that determined the break. The doctor then proceeded to place a cast on his arm. The cast is designed to cover the injured part of the body while at the same time, hold it back in place until the bone repairs. A lot of times, we get so far out of place to where we break. But thank GOD he told us in his word to "cast" our cares on Him, for He cares for us! (1 Peter 5:7) Share with us those times where you may have broken away, but how GOD placed His cast of care, forgiveness, and healing over your life! GOD Bless!

Elder Mike is doing what he was born to do!!

Hey everyone, here is a photo of me recently preaching at Fellowship (my home church). It is, as always, an awesome priviledge to be used by GOD to impact the lives of others. It is what I was born to do - primarily through preaching the gospel!

I want to encourage someone to always pursue knowing your purpose and what GOD has for you. There is no better feeling than knowing you are doing what you were born for! That eleviates the pressures of envying others, jealousy, and all other ills that seem to plague those who are clueless about why they are here. The bible says in James 1:5 reminds us that if we need wisdom, GOD is not stingy....He will give it to you. Seek Him for your path and HE will be faithful to honor your request.

I look forward to hearing from you and how it feels to follow the path GOD has laid for your life!

Who are the Thomas'

Elder Mike is a licensed and ordained, Baptist minister. He proudly serves as an associate mininster, ministry leader, and ceremonial officiant. He and his family are members of the Fellowship MB Church in Chicago. Elder Mike is in his last year at North Park University. He is among the 1st of students to earn 3 undergraduate degrees within a 4 year timeframe! The B.S. degrees are in Church & Ministry Management, Non-Profit Management, and Organizational Leadership & Management.
Elder Mike's favorite things/hobbies are:
  • Video games/Movies
  • Reading (Mostly the bible, any other book must have pictures!)
  • Baking
  • Writing music
  • Eating (no seriously, its a hobby.......a passionate one!)

Kimberly is the world's greatest mom! She also serves as a ministry leader. She holds a Master's Degree from Roosevelt University in Training & Development! She is passionate about our children! Outside of the home, she is passionate and experienced in Volunteer Management, recuitment & retention, mostly in the Non-profit sector. Some of Kim's favorite things/hobbies are:

  • Reading
  • Cooking (she is a terrific chef)
  • Arts & Crafts

The children are wonderful in their own special way. Jeremiah, (7) is our oldest son. He is in the second grade and is doing very, very well. Jeremiah enjoys Video games, playing, and sleeping!

Abigail, (4) is our middle child. But make no mistake, she does not suffer from the middle child curse - being the one forgotton about. She makes sure, as much as possible, that she is the center of attention! She is in Pre-school and is doing very well also. Abby, as we call her, enjoys playing with her dolls, video games, and dress up. The life of a princess, ain't it grand?!

Gideon, (2) I am afraid, is the "gangster" of the family or should I say "outfit". What we mean by that is woe to the person who gets in the way of what Gideon wants. We'll just leave it at that. You all pray for him! But seriously, Gideon is a great son - beautiful inside and out....as long as he doesn't think you have his cookie! Gideon like a lot of things, but they all pale in comparison to his one true love, the alphabet! That's right, this kid loves the alphabet! He even has an alphabet rap! We are waiting to hear back from Rev. Run concerning Gideon demo CD!
